KOTA KINABALU(CS).- More than a thousand people turned up for the praise festival in conjunction with Pentecost organised by the Archdiocesan Service Team (AST) headed by George Thien at the Sacred Heart Cathedral May 23.
Most of those who came were members of the multilingual prayer groups around Kota Kinabalu, Tuaran, Papar and Ranau and of the Light of Jesus Christ Covenant community (LJCCC).
The event began with praise and worship at 3:00 pm followed at 4:00 pm by a Eucharistic Celebration presided by Archbishop John Lee, who was assisted by Deacon Wiandigool Runsab.
The event ended with refreshment and fellowship at the parish centre canteen.
A similar event was organised way back on 14 May 1989 at the cathedral by the LJCCC.
Back then, it was the culmination of a week of preparation that began with a novena in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel, meetings between Charismatic Movement leaders and the Diocesan Advisory Council and a Charismatic Leadership Seminar.
About 1,500 people attended the rally and Mass which was also presided by then Bishop John Lee and concelebrated with five priests.
